Each semester, we welcome a limited number of undergraduate students from the 5Cs for research experiences including senior thesis, 0.5 credit (6 hours/week) and 0.25 credit (3 hours/week) research courses. There are no prerequisites for working with us, you need only enthusiasm for neuroscience and willingness to learn! For laboratory work, scheduling is usually the most important factor: we will have to identify blocks of at least 2 hours in duration when you can be in the lab, and these must be at times that coordinate well with other lab members and ongoing projects.
Timeframe for applying: Our lab tends to fill up quickly and we rarely have openings remaining for a given semester by the time that semester starts, so you should apply ahead of time. If you would like to join the lab in a Fall semester, apply by early April during the prior Spring semester. If you would like to join in Spring, apply by early November during the prior Fall. For summer, look at the deadlines for the specific programs you’re interested in (e.g., CMC Summer Research Program applications are often due in early March).
Fill out this form to express your interest, and Prof. Williams will get back to you, normally within 1 week of submission. Note: we are not accepting new students for Spring 2026.
